During the early hours of Tuesday, September 1, a major fire was reported in the west of Bogotá. Videos shared on social media by several users reported a large-scale conflagration right at the intersection of Calle 13 with Avenida Ciudad de Cali, in the locality of Fontibón.
At the site, according to what Citytv, from the Casa Editorial EL TIEMPO, was able to confirm, there is a traffic jam of cars, motorcycles, and buses.
The shared recordings show a cloud of smoke covering the sky of that area of the capital and large flames reaching several meters above the ground. According to the authorities’ report, the fire started around 4 a.m.

For now, it is known that several units of the Bogotá Fire Department arrived at the scene to attend the emergency and, at the time, managed to control a large part of the conflagration. Citytv reported that the incident occurred exactly within the facilities of a warehouse in the west of Bogotá.

EL TIEMPO learned that the conflagration is currently affecting south-north traffic flow on Avenida Ciudad de Cali. Around 6:41 a.m., the Official Firefighters of Bogotá delivered the first report of the emergency.
According to the report, it was detailed that “a fire is being controlled in a commercial establishment” and it was determined that, due to the incident, “no persons were injured”. Regarding the flames, they indicated that “control is reported at 98%” and that for the moment they are “starting debris removal and hot spot control”.
