Road closures for the Civil Service Athletic Race on Sunday, August 23: alternate routes

This Sunday, August 23, 2026, the streets of the northern part of the capital welcome thousands of athletes for the 5K and 10K Civil Service Athletic Race. 

In order to allow the technical setup of the structures and ensure the safety of the runners on the road, the District Mobility Secretariat authorized a series of total closures on key sections and enabled detours for drivers traveling through these city areas.

Traffic restrictions will begin gradually from 10:00 p.m. this Saturday, August 22 and will extend in some areas until after noon on Sunday. 

For this reason, traffic authorities have asked the public to plan their trips in advance, use alternate routes, and follow the signage provided during the sporting event.

The closures authorized by the Mobility Secretariat affect the west lane of Ninth Avenue and roads adjacent to El Country Comodoro Park, the central point of the event logistics. The restriction schedule will operate as follows:

The race route establishes the El Country Comodoro Park as the starting and finishing point. Event signage will guide participants along the following route on the west side of the road:

The athletes will start jogging at Ninth Avenue with 134th Street Avenue on the west lane, heading south towards Diagonal 92. Upon reaching 93rd Street, runners will make a U-turn heading north. From this point, the race returns along Diagonal 92 northbound to connect with Ninth Avenue and finish the route at the El Country Comodoro Park facilities.

To mitigate vehicle impact near El Country Park, 134th Street, and the Ninth Avenue corridor, the District Mobility Secretariat structured a traffic management plan with alternate routes:

Those traveling north to south on Ninth Avenue during the setups should take 134th Street Avenue westbound, make a U-turn eastbound at 11B Avenue, continue east on 134th Street Avenue, take 10th Avenue southbound, continue east on 131A Street, and reconnect with Ninth Avenue southbound.

For drivers traveling north to south on Ninth Avenue, there is the option to detour via 134th Street Avenue westbound, make a U-turn eastbound at 11B Avenue, take 134th Street Avenue eastbound, and connect with Seventh Avenue southbound.

For those traveling west to east on 134th Street Avenue, authorities recommend continuing east on this same road to take Seventh Avenue north or south.

If traffic is east to west on 94th Street Avenue heading to NQS Avenue south, vehicles should take 19th Avenue north to connect with 100th Street Avenue westbound.

Finally, users traveling north to south on 15th Avenue or east to west on 100th Street Avenue to take Ninth Avenue and NQS Avenue south should continue west on 100th Street Avenue and seek the North Highway to head to the south of the city.
