On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 15, it was reported that the Attorney General’s Office filed a request for a hearing to formally charge journalist Jorge Alfredo Vargas. Sources from the entity confirmed to EL TIEMPO that the investigation is due to the alleged commission of the crime of sexual harassment, stemming from the complaints that surfaced against him a few months ago.
For now, it was specified that the case against the presenter is with the unit of prosecutors delegated to the Supreme Court. Sources from the prosecuting entity told EL TIEMPO that the date for the charges is yet to be announced.
It should be remembered that Vargas was accused along with Ricardo Orrego of allegedly sexually harassing several journalists from Caracol Televisión, which led to their departure from their respective positions in the news program.
