One minute before 11 p.m. last Wednesday, July 29, a violent attack was recorded against three students near the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, on the campus of the National University, in Bogotá.
The students were assaulted by a group of hooded individuals who inflicted several stab wounds on them in one of the university corridors, while others beat them.

EL TIEMPO investigated and established that one of the assaulted students is Kevin Arrigui, 26 years old, who agreed to speak with this newspaper after being evaluated by Legal Medicine last night.
“I have been exercising university leadership at the National University for several months. But those who think differently are labeled as fascists or attacked. Within that, I have received violent aggressions, exclusion, and constant harassment and bullying,” Arrigui told EL TIEMPO.
He pointed to a sector of a union at the alma mater: “They are part of members of Sintraunal. But not all, because the rest are decent, honest people.”

And the student described the attack and assured that he has already virtually sent the complaint to the Prosecutor’s Office, which he will expand today with the help of a lawyer provided to him.
“About two weeks ago, verbal attacks began. They called me a political agitator from the countryside; that I am involved in corruption issues, covering for the rector. I told them I wanted to talk to them and tell them I feel harassed. They told me there was nothing to talk about, that everything should be through institutional channels, and one of them was recording me and I do the same. At that moment, the union president turned back to me and said: ‘Don’t record me, you have serious records.’ And when I confronted him, he grabbed my phone and tried to punch me. That was caught on security videos,” he explained.
He added that when he organized with several students to remove the union banners from some buildings and put up others rejecting harassment, they were attacked by several men who began to chase them.
“About 10 of them caught up with me, beat me, and inflicted stab wounds. I was wearing a leather jacket and that saved me from other stabs. But they threw me to the ground and punched and kicked me,” he explained.
The young man, originally from Huila and a student of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, received a 20-day incapacity and wounds on one of his arms and a leg.
‘No more fear’
“On several occasions this student has been attacked by unknown persons, but also by members of one of the unions of the National University for denouncing proven and true facts,” said Professor Diego Torres, from the same university and a recognized leader.
And he called to reject violent actions and for the competent authorities to start the investigation: “No more fear”.
