While the country was awaiting the inauguration of President Abelardo de la Espriella, Daneidy Barreras Rojas, known as ‘Epa Colombia’ was being moved from her cell in Carabineros de Bogotá to the maximum security prison La Picaleña in Ibagué.
What is known is that the incoming government of De La Espriella decided to move powerful party bosses and the ‘total peace’ inmates who were held in the Itagüí prison. And along the way, the influencer who had been transferred from El Buen Pastor prison to the special pavilion, located at the Carabineros headquarters in the capital by order of President Gustavo Petro.

Epa Colombia was sentenced by the Supreme Court of Justice for vandalism acts in 2019 against the TransMilenio public transportation system.
The high court found her responsible for the crimes of incitement to commit crimes with terrorist purposes, aggravated damage to others’ property, and disruption of public transportation service.
The Investigative Unit of EL TIEMPO contacted judicial sources who assured that on several occasions they tried to transfer her for acts of indiscipline, but former President Gustavo Petro always intervened.
“Complaints were made about issues such as accessing beauty treatments despite her convicted status and mistreatment towards some guards and pavilion companions,” explained a judicial source.

And added that the most recent act of indiscipline consisted of taking a selfie in her place of detention – in an area where cell phone entry is prohibited – which was posted on social media.
While some media referred to ‘Epa Colombia’s’ change of look, the Inpec was reviewing the possible violation of prison rules.
“Her request for house arrest had been denied and she received a visit from a lawyer in a place where cell phone entry is prohibited,” the same source explained.

And added that once Petro ceased to be president and the pressure to prevent her transfer ended, the decision was made to move her to the maximum security prison.
EL TIEMPO had already reported the entry of high-end SUVs and alleged gifts for ‘Epa Colombia’ that her various lawyers went out to deny.
