A new traffic accident, recorded in the early hours of this Monday, August 3, affected mobility in the west of Bogotá and caused traffic congestion for drivers trying to leave the capital via Calle 13.
The incident occurred near the Cundinamarca Territorial Directorate of the National Institute of Roads (Invías), where two cars were involved.
According to the report from the District Mobility Secretariat, the accident happened exactly at Centenario Avenue with Carrera 128, east-west direction, around 5:13 a.m.

The entity reported that, after learning about the incident, a Traffic unit was assigned to attend to the situation and carry out the corresponding management in the corridor.
The Mobility Secretariat indicated that the accident caused disruptions in traffic flow in this part of the city. In its report, it stated: “Vehicle backup is registered in the corridor”, due to the traffic accident between the two vehicles.
Later, around 5:32 a.m., the entity updated the information on the road status and confirmed that the situation continued to cause disruptions for those traveling towards the exit of Bogotá via this corridor.
“Due to a traffic accident between two cars at Av. Centenario with Carrera 128, heavy traffic congestion is generated to leave the city through this road corridor,” reported the Mobility Secretariat.

The disruption is concentrated in the Calle 13 corridor, one of the roads used to connect Bogotá with the areas towards Mosquera, Funza, and the west. For this reason, authorities recommended drivers consider other routes while the accident is attended to and traffic normalizes in the area.
As an alternative for those who need to leave the capital, the Mobility Secretariat recommended taking Calle 80, which connects the capital with Puente de Guadua, the Siberia area, and nearby municipalities such as Cota or La Vega.
The recommendation is part of measures to avoid the area affected by the accident and reduce the number of vehicles continuing to arrive at the point where the backup occurs.
So far, the report delivered by the Mobility Secretariat establishes that the incident corresponds to a traffic accident between two cars and that the main reported impact is related to vehicle circulation.
The entity did not provide additional information in the report about injured persons or the circumstances in which the collision occurred.
