Atlético Nacional confirmed this Thursday the arrival of James Rodríguez as a reinforcement to compete for the titles of the League and the BetPlay Cup, a signing that shook the market hours before the transfer window closed for players without a contract.
In a video published on the club’s social media, James, 35 years old, sent his first words to the verdolaga fans.

“Green guys, how are you? Here, happy. I hope to see you soon at the stadium. We will always fill the Atanasio. Subscribe. I already want to be there with you and celebrate together, okay? A big hug,” said James.
According to press reports, James signed with Atlético Nacional until June 2027, which will be his second experience in Colombian professional football. The first was at the beginning of his career, when he was part of Envigado.
James Rodríguez’s background in Colombia
The ‘10’ has only played two first division matches in Colombia. He debuted on May 21, 2006, in the game that the oranges lost 1-2 against Cúcuta Deportivo. He came on in the 66th minute, replacing Cristian González.
His only match as a starter in the A with Envigado was exactly 20 years ago, on September 10, 2006. It was at the Centenario Stadium in Armenia, in the 1-0 defeat against Deportes Quindío. He was replaced by Elkin Ronco in the 66th minute.
After Envigado’s relegation to the B, James was key to the club’s return to the first division. But he did not play again in the first division in Colombia, as after the promotion, he was transferred to Banfield in Argentina.
