Lorenzo explained the call-up
The coach held a press conference in which he explained why major stars are absent and why there are so many new faces.
The Argentine revealed he knew since the match against Switzerland about the decision of James Rodríguez, Juan Fernando Quintero, and David Ospina to step aside.
He added that this time he wanted to call several young players, who will have a leading role in this new stage, whom he has been following but had not been able to call up for various reasons.
The coach mentioned he had a talk with Luis Díaz and noticed he did not have the pace and change of rhythm that are his characteristics and both agreed not to be in this call-up to give him the chance to rest a bit, as he had carried more than 60 matches before the World Cup.
Lorenzo assured that no opponent has outperformed his team in recent official matches but that the closing of matches remains “an unfinished business”.
