The Attorney General’s Office revealed the identity of the man accused of assaulting Ricardo Rodríguez, a security guard in the Modelia area, in the Fontibón locality, west of Bogotá.
He is Randy Jhonso Bozo Molina, who was prosecuted as the alleged person responsible for attacking the worker with a blunt object on September 5.
According to the statement issued by the investigative body on September 11, the elderly man was outside a booth when he was allegedly approached by the accused.
According to the investigation, Bozo Molina allegedly used a stone to hit him and cause serious injuries. The attack was recorded on security camera footage from the area.
The images were included in the investigation and show the moment when the accused allegedly attacked the security guard while he was on the ground. The prosecuting authority stated that the man took advantage of the victim’s defenseless state to continue the assault.
The Attorney General’s Office argued that the victim had no chance to defend himself during the attack. In the statement, released after the announcement by Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán about the capture of the accused, the agency indicated that the accused hit him “while he remained on the ground” and that the events were documented by security camera footage.
“According to the investigation, the victim was outside a booth when the accused allegedly attacked him with a stone, causing serious injuries,” said the Attorney General’s Office.

In the case, which proceeded to a hearing, a prosecutor from the Bogotá Sectional charged Randy Jhonso Bozo Molina with attempted aggravated homicide.
According to the investigative body, the accused accepted responsibility for these acts during the judicial proceeding.
The Attorney General’s Office also reported that the man remains in custody for another case that occurred just two days after the assault on the security guard.
This second incident took place in the Garcés Navas neighborhood, Engativá locality, where he allegedly threatened another citizen with a sharp weapon.
For that incident, the accused was prosecuted for conduct related to intimidation or threat using weapons, less-lethal devices, homemade firearms, and bladed weapons. The arrest was made in flagrante delicto, according to the Attorney General’s Office, after he allegedly intimidated the citizen.
Thus, the case against Bozo Molina includes two judicial proceedings related to events that occurred in different localities of Bogotá. The first corresponds to the assault on the Modelia security guard, and the second is related to the threat reported in Garcés Navas.
