On the night of June 4, protests were reported in front of the campaign headquarters of presidential candidate Abelardo de la Espriella in Teusaquillo, where supporters of candidate Iván Cepeda gathered with signs and banners, chanting various “offensive and intimidating” slogans.
In response, Abelardo de la Espriella’s campaign denounced attacks against its facilities and urged the Police to act. However, the District Security Secretariat clarified that there was no “vandalism or structural damage.”

After the demonstrations, different voices have spoken out about what happened, denouncing these acts and calling them ‘attacks’, in addition, the district entities provided the official details.
Abelardo de la Espriella’s campaign wrote on its X account: “At this moment, members of the hordes of maladjusted individuals are attacking the Tiger’s headquarters in Teusaquillo. Colombian Police, proceed to restore order and guarantee the safety of the members of the pack who are there.”

In response, the District Security Secretariat commented on what happened and provided an overview of the events between the protesters and campaign members.
“Tonight, a group of individuals gathered outside a campaign headquarters of candidate Abelardo de la Espriella, located in the Teusaquillo locality, to chant offensive and intimidating slogans and restrict access to and exit from said facility, without causing vandalism or structural damage,” they wrote in their statement.
Likewise, they emphasized that the secretariat and the Police reacted preventively without any clash occurring between the protesters and causing a peaceful evacuation of the people at the scene.
They also rejected what happened: “The Mayor’s Office of Bogotá rejects any violent and intimidating political act and reiterates that the use of violence and the destruction of public and private property are punished by criminal law.”
And they concluded by sending a message to the presidential campaigns: “We demand maximum responsibility from the leaders in political campaigns in the exercise of their political rights, outside of violence and destruction, with full adherence to the law and an express renunciation of the intention to exert pressure or attacks against citizens of any political affiliation.”

This comes amid the political campaign for the second presidential round, where on the same day, a court prohibited the candidate from using the Colombia national team jersey as an electoral symbol.

On the same Thursday, a provisional measure issued by the 120th Municipal Criminal Court with Knowledge Function was announced, which ordered candidate De la Espriella to refrain from using or displaying the official Colombia National Team jersey in his campaign, advertising, social media, and communication channels.
In the decision, they wrote: “This constitutional seat must specify that in these moments of electoral conjuncture, the two candidates who have passed to the second round, for their election as President of the Republic for the period 2026 to 2030 to be defined soon, it is important to safeguard minimum rights that assist the entire social conglomerate that is part of this nation.”
And they added, stating that “logically, they imbue said jersey or any distinctive of the Colombia national football team, with a different symbol for which it was created and designed, biased towards said candidacy or political institution.”
The authorities call for peaceful elections and to set aside political violence.
