Among her most outstanding novels are ‘La perra’ (2017) and ‘Los abismos’ (2021). Her most recent publication is ‘Noche negra’ (2025). She is also a screenwriter. In her texts, you can hear the voices and stories of women; she also explores the masks of human beings and how, in different contexts, they can bring out an ‘animal’ side.
The event is scheduled for this Thursday, September 17 at 6:30 p.m. Subscribers of EL TIEMPO will have the opportunity to talk with one of the most important authors from Colombia and Latin America. In 2021, she was awarded the Alfaguara Prize for her novel ‘Los abismos’.

About Pilar Quintana
The Colombian writer Pilar Quintana was born in Cali in 1972. She studied Social Communication at the Javeriana University.
She also won the IV Colombian Narrative Library Prize, the PEN Translates Award, and the LiBeraturpreis in Germany. She was a finalist for the National Novel Prize, in Colombia, and the National Book Award in the United States, in the translated literature category.
In 2007, she was selected among the 39 most outstanding writers under 40 in Latin America. Since then, she has established herself as one of the most recognized voices in contemporary Latin American literature.
Her work includes ‘Cosquillas en la lengua’ (2003), ‘Coleccionistas de polvos raros’ (2007), ‘Conspiración iguana’ (2009), and ‘Caperucita se come al lobo’ (2012), ‘La perra’ (2017), and ‘Los abismos’ (2021). Her most recent publication is ‘Noche negra’ (2025).
