A couple of hours after presenting his report – which caused controversy in several sectors -, the president of Ecopetrol, Ricardo Roa, headed to the Prosecutor’s Office bunker along with his lawyer Juan David León.
Indeed, informed sources confirmed that around 6:30 in the afternoon, they saw him meeting with one of the prosecutors of the two ongoing cases against him: the first for influence peddling, opened after the investigation by EL TIEMPO’s Investigative Unit into the purchase of his apartment 901; and the other for violating campaign spending limits in the Petro Presidente 2022-2026 campaign, of which he was manager.
‘He offered cooperation’

Sources of absolute credibility told EL TIEMPO that Roa expressed willingness to cooperate within the process for violating spending limits, which has been a criminal offense since 2017.
And he reportedly stated that this process has caused him many personal inconveniences. Including the seizure of apartment 901.
In August 2025, La Silla Vacía – which resumed EL TIEMPO’s investigation into apartment 901 – revealed that the property was seized and about to be auctioned.

EL TIEMPO officially asked lawyer León about the matter and he stated: “The defense continues its activity as it has consistently done: gathering elements to contradict the thesis”.
A month ago, this newspaper had asked the same question to Roa’s lawyer and received the same response. In fact, he dismissed a version of asylum.

EL TIEMPO asked León about the meeting, but by the time of this edition’s closing, he had not responded.
And although Roa admitted yesterday that he apologized to the company because his personal troubles affected the recognition of good results, he also said he will remain in the country and would only go out for a walk.
